HIST 348 Everyday Communism (3)

An introduction to the “everyday” experience of communism in Cold War Eastern Europe. Topics include ideology, the party-state, terror, class lifestyles, women’s “double burden,”  socialist fashion and consumption, youth culture, the appeal of the West, dissidence, revolution and systemic transition.
Prerequisite(s): EITHER HIST 115 -HIST 116  OR any other combination of courses that satisfies the general education history requirement.
