ANTH 303 Paleolithic Archaeology (3)This course entails a survey of human cultural evolution from its earliest beginnings until the end of the Pleistocene Ice Ages (2.5 mya - 10,000 years ago). The basis for the course is a culture history for Pleistocene archaeological materials in two principal regions: Africa and Europe. In addition to a culture history, processual issues such as the origins of culture, the evolution of cognitive behavior and changing human land use patterns will be discussed in some detail.
