Degree: Artium Baccalaureatus
Credit Hours: 30+

In addition to completing the requirements for this major, students must also complete the degree requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Required Courses


Greek and Latin Requirement:


A minimum of 18 credit hours in Greek and Latin beyond the elementary level:

  • 12 credit hours (beyond the elementary level) in the principal classical language.
  • 6 credit hours (beyond the elementary level) in the secondary classical language.
  • 3 credit hours in CLAS 401 Research Seminar in Classics (3)  
  • An additional 9 credit hours, in any combination, from the list of approved Classics courses.

*CLAS 121  and CLAS 122  are travel courses. Students must be able to walk moderately difficult trails.

**GREK 496  and LATN 496  credit hours are assigned will be determined by the nature and extent of the reading.

Special topic courses in ARTH, CLAS, HIST, PHIL, and RELS will meet this requirement when the content focuses on Classics.
