International Studies Minor

Credit hours: 18 The international studies minor is an elective program which provides a structured course of study designed to acquaint students with the international community. Completion of this minor course of studies will provide an important background for individuals planning careers in government, private enterprise, or non-governmental institutions.

Required courses:

Select one course from each of the following two categories:

Category I: Interdisciplinary Studies

Category II: International Politics, History, Geography, Economics, Culture and Literature

Electives: 9 credit hours

Nine credit hours dircted towards a non-US geographic area (Africa, Asia, Europe, or Latin America) chosen from the lists of courses below, or by taking nine credit hours from INTL courses at the 200-level or above excluding INTL 350 , INTL 401 , and INTL 495 .

Africa Focus (9 credit hours)

Note:

Other Departmental and Program topics, special topics, selected topics, research seminars, tutorials, independent study, and bachelor’s essay courses will also be counted when their content is 1/3 focused on the Africa region as determined by the director of International Studies.

Asia Focus (9 credit hours)

Note:

Other Departmental and Program topics, special topics, selected topics, research seminars, tutorials, independent study, and bachelor’s essay courses will also be counted when their content is 1/3 focused on the Asia region as determined by the director of International Studies.

Europe Focus (9 credit hours)

Note:

*Courses marked with an asterisk are taught in that language. Other Departmental and Program topics, special topics, selected topics, research seminars, tutorials, independent study, and bachelor’s essay courses will also be counted when their content is 1/3 focused on the Europe region as determined by the director of International Studies.

International Studies Focus (9 credit hours)

Nine credit hours of INTL courses at the 200-level or above, excluding INTL 350 , INTL 401 , and INTL 495 .

Latin America and the Caribbean Focus (9 credit hours)
