ENGL 344 Late 19th Century American Literature (3)Investigation of literary texts between the Civil War and around 1900, with a focus on sentimentalism, regionalism & local color, realism, and naturalism. Emphasizes complex relationships between literature and late-19th century milieux, including literary markets, gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, class, urbanization, immigration and assimilation, capitalism, technology, and nationalism.
