RELS 315 New Religious Movements (3)An interdisciplinary examination of the formation and development of New Religious Movements, using historical and contemporary case studies to test a variety of theoretical perspectives. Topics may be organized thematically and include popular perceptions of New Religions (“cults”), issues of political contestation, the role of the media and the impact of globalization on these movements.
