PRST 313 Global Society in the 21st Century (3)This course examines the key components, dynamics and issues that comprise global society in the 21st century. Increasingly open national boundaries combined with rapidly advancing technology, telecommunications, production and distribution systems, trade, human migration and social diversity has generated a more interdependent global society and economy. A rapidly expanding human population combined with significant increases in per capita and overall consumption (accelerated by globalization) has increased both the consumption of natural resources and the impact of human activity on the natural environment. Individual, organizational and societal performance increasingly depends on understanding and aligning strategy with the challenges and opportunities of a globalized society. This course analyses modern global society and fosters a globally oriented decision making perspective. Prerequisite(s): Declared Professional Studies Major or Permission of Dean of Professional Studies Course Frequency: Fall
