Description, classification, occurrence and geologic significance of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Emphasis is placed on the mineralogy and physical chemistry of silicate and nonsilicate systems. Laboratory consists of the study of igneous and metamorphic rocks in thin section. Lectures three hours per week; laboratory three hours per week. Prerequisite(s):GEOL 103 and GEOL 105 or HONS 155 and HONS 156; or permission of the instructor. Course Frequency: Occasional
