MATH 490 Practicum in Mathematics (3)This course is intended to give students real-world experiences in applications of mathematics through internships, case studies or projects undertaken by small groups of students under faculty supervision or the joint supervision of a faculty member and an industrial mathematician. It is the student’s responsibility to submit a written practicum proposal to the applied mathematics committee in the semester prior to that in which the practicum is to be done (normally in the senior year). Reports will be submitted by the students describing and analyzing their internships or projects. Prerequisite(s): Senior standing and permission of the instructor and department chair.
