ANTH 306 Historical Archaeology (3)

Historical archaeology is a subdiscipline that studies the archaeology of the “modern world” via the material culture, documentary evidence, and oral histories of societies of approximately the last five hundred years. The class will begin with a survey of data sources deployed in historical archaeology -artifacts, documents, landscapes, oral histories- then turn to the major themes addressed by the field including globalization, colonialism, capitalism, racialization, and modernity.
