SPAN 314 Conversational Skills through Culture (3)Process-based approach to guide and refine conversational skills in Spanish, centered on Hispanic/Latino cultural themes. Emphasis on the development of more sophisticated conversational strategies, including spontaneous, connected discourse, while further developing vocabulary and grammar usage. Readings and conversation topics include a wide range of situations, and themes from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries. Prerequisite(s): SPAN 202 or placement or permission of the instructor Course Frequency: Fall and Spring Note: This course is not open to students who are native speakers or heritage speakers of Spanish (those who grew up speaking Spanish in the home but may not have studied in a formal setting).
