Program Requirements

Capstone Curriculum


The capstone project is a student’s culminating experience in which they complete a project associated with at least one course in the program.  Students must complete 3 credit hours, which includes SMFT 690 Capstone Project Development (1)  and 2 credit hours from SMFT 699 Capstone Project (1-2) .

Students must submit a written report of the complete capstone project to the advisor(s) and the program director.  They must also present the completed capstone project to the program steering committee members, their advisor(s), program faculty and other interested parties.

Science and Mathematics Curriculum


At least 18 credit hours selected from the following courses with no more than 4 credit hours from BIOL, EVSS, and MATH courses at the 500 and 600-level.

Note:


A maximum of 3 credit hours are allowed from SMFT 698 .

Transfer Credit Policy


An applicant or student of the M.Ed. Science and Mathematics Education (SMFE) program can seek approval from the Program Director to accept up to six transfer credit hours. These courses must have a grade of “B” or higher, and can count toward the M. Ed. Science and Mathematics degree requirements. Courses with a grade of “Pass” or “Satisfactory” will not be accepted. Also, note that the courses must be catalog courses and not professional development courses to count in a program.
