Program Requirements
Credit Hours: 39 Residency Weeks and Weekends
Interacting with colleagues is vital in establishing a professional network. As part of a cohort experience, the Charleston EMBA values the in-person interaction of its MBA degree candidates. As such, required in-person classes are held three weekends per term on select Fridays and Saturdays, all in Charleston. There are two week-long residency retreats, one at the program kick-off and the other at the end of the program.
Executive Coaching
EMBA candidates are partnered with certified executive coaches who provide individualized consulting throughout the program, assisting students in “upleveling” their effectiveness in leadership. Through 360-degree assessments, coaches guide students in acknowledging their current behaviors that are enabling, or constraining, their intended leadership impact and operational performance. Assessments will identify competencies and reactive tendencies that drive patterns of behavior; and through a holistic review, students are encouraged to accelerate their own growth and those around them. Sessions are confidential for personalized feedback relevant to the individual student.
Additionally, cohort-wide workshops throughout the program will assist students in developing personalized plans that translate assessments into action plans to apply in life and business. These occasional workshops will offer “temperature checks” to review effectiveness of those plans and understand the progress in their leadership development.
International Immersion
All students enrolled in MBAD 520 Global Enterprise are required to participate in a week-long international immersion trip. The experience exposes students to the global business environment through cross-cultural collaboration with the program’s corporate partners, offering an in-depth understanding of the destination’s economic framework and its role locally, regionally, and globally. This immersive experience will enhance students’ global business acumen and offer a profound appreciation of the historical and cultural contexts that shape the destination.
