Level 1 (3-6 credit hours)

Students that place into SPAN 313 or SPAN 314 will replace this with an approved elective at the 300-level or 400-level.
Level 2 (6 credit hours)
Complete 6 credit hours from one of the following options:

*Heritage speakers will take SPAN 312 to fulfill this requirement.
The course requirements from Level 2 may be replaced with 300-level or 400-level electives with the department chair’s approval.
Level 4 (18 credit hours)
Complete 18 credit hours from the following courses to include a minimum of 6 credit hours from Linguistics and a minimum of 6 credit hours from Literature, Film, and Cultural Studies.
SPAN Linguistics (at least 6 credit hours)

Proficiency Exam Requirement
Majors in Spanish are required to take a proficiency exam during their last year prior to graduation. Information about the nature of the exam and the schedule for each semester is available in the department and on its website. Notes:
- No more than 6 credit hours total from SPAN 332 and SPAN 333 may be applied towards the program requirements.
- No more than 6 credit hours from SPAN 498 may be applied towards the program requirements.
Coursework Meeting Major Requirements Excluded from the Major GPA Calculation
None. All courses that may apply toward completion of course requirements within the major apply toward the major GPA calculation. |
