Environmental and Sustainability Studies Minor

The interdisciplinary environmental and sustainability studies minor provides students with opportunities to learn more about the natural environment, the ecology of the planet, and sustainability, while understanding the impact of political, social, cultural, and economic activities on the environment.

Minor Requirements


Credit Hours: 19+

In addition to completing the requirements for this minor, students must also complete the minor requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

I. Natural Sciences and Mathematics Environmental Courses


Complete three or more courses (at least 9 credit hours) plus prerequisites selected from:

  • Honors students can take the alternative sequence of HONS 155 /HONS 155L  in lieu of GEOL 103 /GEOL 103L .
  • Honors students can take the alternative course of HONS 217  in lieu of MATH 250 .
  • Special topics courses offered by departments may be approved on a course-by-course basis.
  • Only one course in the student’s major department may be applied to the minor.
  • Only one mathematics course may be chosen.

III. Interdisciplinary Environmental Courses


Notes:


  • No more than 12 credit hours from ENVT 350  or ENVT 499A  or ENVT 499B  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 3 credit hours from ENVT 355  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 2 credit hours from ENVT 395  may be applied towards the program requirements.
