The program provides a well-rounded education in marine biology that allows graduates to pursue further study or professional employment in marine science. Marine Biology and Biology B.S. students can earn graduate credit during their junior and senior years to accelerate their completion of the M.S. in Marine Biology. Up to 12 credit hours of eligible graduate-level coursework taken as an undergraduate can be counted towards both degrees. Students involved in undergraduate research are given the opportunity to further develop their research at the graduate level as a Master’s thesis.
Applications for admission to the program should be made no later than one academic calendar year before completion of the B.S. degree.
Admission to the program requires a minimum 3.500 overall and 3.500 major GPA, and a minimum of 90 hours of undergraduate credits including at least three credits Bachelor’s essay or Honors immersed coursework, or independent research (i.e., BIOL 398/399/450/451/498/499).
