Archaeology Minor

Minor Requirements


Credit Hours: 22+-28+

In addition to completing the requirements for this minor, students must also complete the minor requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Note:


Electives (9-10 credit hours)


Students must complete at least 3 credit hours from each of the following groups: Social Sciences; Art and Humanities; and Natural Science, Data Science and Mathematics.

Note:


ARCH 290  will count towards the requirement when content is appropriate and with the approval of the archaeology program director.

Arts and Humanities (3 credit hours)


Note:


*When the subject substantially involves archaeological material.

**CLAS 121  and CLAS 122  are travel courses. Students must be able to walk moderately difficult trails.

Note:


Honors students can take the alternative course of HONS 217  in lieu of MATH 250 .

*When the subject substantially involves archaeological material.

Capstone Experience: Fieldwork (3-8 credit hours)


A hands-on application of theory and methods through fieldwork or lab work forms the capstone experience.*

Note:


*Students may transfer 3 to 6 credit hours in fieldwork from another institution. This option accommodates students who have a particular interest in archaeological research outside the confines of opportunities available at the College of Charleston. Decisions upon acceptance of outside field experience will be determined by the program director.
