BIOL 449 Biology of Coral Reefs (3)An introduction to the biology and ecology of reef-building corals and coral reefs. Topics to be covered include coral ecology (physical environment, nutrition, reproduction, growth, population structure), taxonomy, systematic, diversity, biogeography, reef-building processes, and natural and human induced disturbances. Prerequisite(s): Junior rank or higher, BIOL 111 , BIOL 111L , BIOL 112 , BIOL 112L , BIOL 211 (or BIOL 213 ), BIOL 341 , completed at least 15 credit hours in BIOL, minimum GPA of at least 3.000 in all BIOL courses. Students not meeting these requirements may enroll with permission of the instructor and departmental chair.
