Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance at the College of Charleston is to prepare educators and health professionals to be leaders in a diverse community through (1) an understanding of and effective participation in a highly complex world, and (2) engaging coursework connected to field experiences, internships, and innovative research activities. Our vision is to be a community of diverse and practical leaders who ensure access to and advocate for learning and wellness opportunities for all.
Our teacher education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) and the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (SCHE).
NOTE: Students interested in the teacher education program should contact the Office of Student Services and Credentialing at 843.953.5613 to declare a major or minor and to complete a program of study. The program of study will assure courses taken to meet College of Charleston requirements will also meet the requirements for admission to the teacher education program.
