About the Program
Women’s and Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary major or minor in which students explore gender identities, relations, practices, theories and social institutions. Courses examine gender interpersonally and structurally, cultural contributions made by people of all genders, the social, historical, political, and economic status of women, the intersections of race, class, and gender, and theoretical concerns about the relation of gender to knowledge. Women’s and Gender Studies courses are offered in every school on campus. Many may be used to satisfy the College’s general education requirements in the social sciences and the humanities.
