Why is it important to study engineering at a university like the College of Charleston? Location! Location! Location!

As you think about what it takes to be an engineer, you should be aware of the skills employers value highly. Certainly technical skills and industry knowledge count for a lot. But companies are also looking for employees who have highly developed communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

And, as the world becomes more and more complex, the engineers of tomorrow will have to work on diverse teams, have a grasp of global issues and be sensitive to cultural diversity. This global perspective will ensure that the creative designs they produce will reflect an understanding of the social, political, historical and economic context of a project.
