Asian Studies Minor

The Asian studies minor is an interdisciplinary program intended to introduce students to the diverse cultures and regions of Asia through the study of history, politics, languages and literature, visual arts, religion, and economics.

Minor Requirements


Credit Hours: 18

In addition to completing the requirements for this minor, students must also complete the minor requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Select 15 additional credit hours from the following, 9 of which must be at the 200-level or higher:


Language courses beyond the 200-level may count toward the minor. No more than 6 credit hours at the 100-level may count toward the minor.

Notes:


  • When approved by the program director, additional Special Topics courses may also count toward the minor provided at least 1/3 of the content focuses on Asia.
  • Students are not permitted to minor in Asian Studies and major in International Studies with a concentration in Asia.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from ASST 240  may be applied toward the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours fromASST 340  may be applied toward the program requirements.
