Latin American and Caribbean Studies Minor

Minor Requirements


Credit Hours: 18

In addition to completing the requirements for this minor, students must also complete the minor requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Complete five courses totaling 15 credit hours from the following:


Notes:


  • Departmental Special Topics, Tutorials, Independent Studies, and Internships as appropriate.
  • Students are encouraged to fulfill their language requirement in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, or French. Students are encouraged to spend one summer or semester in a study abroad program in Latin America or the Caribbean.
  • * These courses must have at least 1/3 content in Latin America and the Caribbean to count toward the minor. Permission of the program director must be granted for these courses to count toward the minor.
  • No more than 9 of the required credit hours may be in any one discipline (excluding LACS).
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 310  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 320  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 330  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 340  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 350  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 9 credit hours from LACS 360  may be applied towards the program requirements.
  • No more than 4 credit hours from LACS 401   may be applied towards the program requirements.
