Major Requirements

In addition to completing the requirements for this major, students must also complete the degree requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Geology, B.A. Shared Core Requirements

Complete 7 additional credit hours of GEOL 200-level or above coursework with at least 4 credit hours at the 250-level or above with a maximum of 3 credit hours from ASTR 260 , ASTR 260L , ASTR 460L , PHYS 260 , PHYS 260L , PHYS 460L , GEOL 260 , GEOL 260L , and GEOL 460L.

Honors students can take the alternative course of HONS 190 /HONS 190L  in lieu of CHEM 111 /CHEM 111L  and CHEM 112 /CHEM 112L .

Biology or Physics Sequence Requirement (8 credit hours)

Complete one of the following options:

Paleontology students must complete a biology option to satisfy the concentration’s introductory biology requirement.

  • Students are not permitted to double major in Environmental Geosciences and Geology.
