ENGL 512 Southern Literature (3) A study of selected texts, both canonical and lesser-known, by and about residents of the U.S. South. The course will emphasize works produced since 1900 and will explore some of the recurring themes often associated with the region: race, class, family, and place; land, labor, and pastoral ideal; nostalgia, history, and the global south.
