Elective Requirement
Complete 13 additional credit hours 200-level or above BIOL courses (excluding BIOL 381 ) including 9 credit hours at the 300-level or above; three courses must be taken with labs; two of the courses with labs must be at the 300-level or above. Labs may carry separate credit or be part of a 4 credit course. (Independent study, tutorial, Bachelor’s Essay, or BIOL 450 and BIOL 451 with labs do not fulfill the lab requirement).
Note:
Honors students can take the alternative course of HONS 217 in lieu of MATH 250 .
Notes:
- MATH 250 is a prerequisite for all 300-level BIOL courses.
- CHEM 220 and CHEM 220L are recommended.
- Students are not permitted to double major in Biology and Marine Biology.
- Credit cannot be applied for both BIOL 211 and BIOL 213 towards the program requirements.
- Credit cannot be applied for both BIOL 312L and BIOL 412 towards the program requirements.
- No more than 3 credit hours from BIOL 399 may be applied towards the program requirements.
- No more than 12 credit hours from BIOL 450 may be applied towards the program requirements.
- No more than 12 credit hours from BIOL 451 may be applied towards the program requirements.
Coursework Meeting Major Requirements Excluded from the Major GPA Calculation
All coursework with a BIOL acronym counts toward the major GPA calculation except BIOL 101 , BIOL 101L , BIOL 102 , BIOL 102L , and BIOL 381 .
The following courses are excluded: CHEM 101 , CHEM 101L , CHEM 102 , CHEM 102L , CHEM 111 , CHEM 111L , CHEM 112 , CHEM 112L , HONS 190 , HONS 190L , HONS 217 , MATH 250
