Major Requirements


Credit Hours: 63+

In addition to completing the requirements for this major, students must also complete the degree requirements specified in the Academic Regulations  section of this catalog.

Courses within this major may also satisfy general education requirements. Please consult the Liberal Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements  for more information.

Note:


  • Honors students can take the alternative sequence of HONS 155 /HONS 155L  in lieu of GEOL 103 /GEOL 103L .
  • Honors students can take the alternative sequence of HONS 156 /HONS 156L  in lieu of GEOL 105 /GEOL 105L .
  • *GEOL 362 , GEOL 364  and GEOL 365  are Summer term travel courses with additional costs.  Contact the department for details. 
  • **If opting for GEOL 385 , then it must be ernolled for 4 credit hours and a proposal developed under the direction of the student’s advisor and provided for department approval two weeks before registration period begins.  Contact the department for details.

Note:


*Must be environmental geosciences related and conducted under the mentorship of a geoscience faculty member. Prior written approval must be obtained from the coordinator of the Environmental Geosciences program.
